Founded in 1995, the Gentlemen’s Sports Classic began as a dueling competition between two athletes.  Eric Chernikovich and Dan DiSanto spent the entire day competing in various events which included badminton, ping-pong, quoits, chip-and-putt golf, one-on-one basketball, football and croquet. The competition crossed over state lines between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  By nightfall, as no winner could be declared, the two discussed their vision to one day organize a competition that would be attended by other athletes.  The day would include eight events, where the top six finishers in each event would be recognized for their achievement by being awarded points.  The athlete who accumulated the highest point total at the end of the day would be crowned champion.  The very next year their vision became a reality, and from that day forward, the annual competition would be known as the Gentlemen’s Sports Classic.
